qathet Living Magazine
At Gastropod Media, we publish many things. But our most enduring magazine (our anchor) is qathet Living. A delightfully analog experience – it gives us permission to look away from the screen, sit still for a few minutes, and enjoy the tactile experience of holding the stories in our hands. This slow form of media invites readers to find their people and express themselves, here on the Upper Sunshine Coast.
So pick up this month's qathet Living, top up your coffee, and dive in.

Why we keep it [mainly] analog.
It's no secret that around the world, paper newspapers and magazines are dying. But we believe they'll come back around. Like our business colleagues who run single-screen movie theatres, neighbourhood pubs, libraries, and other places where humans gather, qL provides an independent, local place where folks can encounter each other. And, like those who are returning to flip phones, home cooking, fishing, gardening, and books, qL is an antidote to the excesses of the 21st century's noisy culture.
We're proud to help keep the dollars local, too, by showcasing our excellent business community. Frankly, one reason why other paper media is dying is that they disrespected their advertisers, by giving away content for free online. qL exists because of our advertisers. We want you to see the ads and buy local stuff!
Analog means no trolls, no Meta ban, no AI-written articles. Just local people sharing what they're passionate about, with other local people.
Surely, analog is a big part of our future.
